About this file

This document is a set of responses to industry questions related to a federal contract opportunity for test benches at the Lakehurst Calibration Laboratory. The questions and answers cover specific details about furniture configurations, including confirmation that L-shaped tables can use base cabinets with a toekick, acceptable storage solutions for File Room 107A involving ultraframe cabinets, and color specifications for casework (grey casework with white phenolic tops). The responses provide clarification on design details and material choices for the test bench installations.

The responses also definitively state that this is not a GSA contract and confirm specific requirements such as the need for white phenolic tops that do not require a perfect color match to existing furniture. The questions suggest the contractor is seeking precise guidance on design and material specifications to ensure their proposal meets the Naval Air Warfare Center's requirements for the test bench procurement.

Text version

1. 101-C. Does the “L-shape table” need to be on legs or can this be base cabinets with a toekick? Yes, this can be base cabinets and does not require legs.

2. File Room 107A. For the uppers we can do cabinets on ultraframe for the lower storage pieces, the easy path would be a freestanding storage piece (it might be a special but nothing too crazy). The other hurdle with this one is the 12” gap between the uppers and lowers. Again we can fill this with a steel piece but we need confirmation if that will be acceptable. This solution would be acceptable.

3. 108-B. Would Ultraframe with the alternative/ special metal modesty panels/ infills work for this? The solid backs make these looks like built-ins. Yes, that would be acceptable.

4. 108-G. Do we know what color is desired? Grey casework, White phenolic tops. In this image it is ‘drawn’ with white phenolic tops and shelves. If we were to match this exactly with the white phenolic, it will add a lot of cost to our quote. Is standard black phenolic and metal shelves acceptable? We require white phenolic tops, but they do not need to be a perfect match to the current colors of existing the furniture.

5. Is this GSA or no? I believe it is but as you know the most specials, the more open market. No.
