About this file

This is a Description of Requirements (DOR) document for procurement of Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) MinION Mk1D sequencing equipment by Naval Medical Research Unit Europe, Africa, Central (NAMRU EURAFCENT). The requirement consists of three MinION Mk1D sequencing kits with associated components and one year of service support valid in Africa. The first kit includes one MinION Mk1D Sequencing Device, Control Expansion Kit, Flow Cell Wash Kit, 5x DNA Flow Cells, and Rapid Sequencing Kit V14 (SQK-RAD114). The second kit contains identical components except with the Rapid Barcoding Kit 24 V14 (SQK-RBK114.24) instead of the rapid sequencing kit. The third kit includes the MinION Mk1D device with 5x RNA Flow Cells and Direct RNA Sequencing Kit (SQK-RNA004) for RNA analysis. Each kit includes one year of MinION Mk1D Standard Support.

Delivery is required to NAMRU EURAFCENT Laboratory at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa (DODAAC: N61751), with inspection and acceptance to be performed at the destination by the receiving Point of Contact. The procurement supports implementation of a newly developed assay being standardized across the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and Navy Research Laboratories, requiring this specific ONT platform to ensure mission capability, interoperability, and data standardization with strategic enterprise partners. The document emphasizes that all delivered items must match manufacturer specifications and salient characteristics outlined in the requirements, with verification of correct quantities (two DNA kits and one RNA kit) and physical condition upon receipt.
