BLDG 77H FUEL STORAGE FACILITY REPAIRS
Clarifications/Questions/Comments
1) For Section 33.9.1, who will be providing the water for the Leak test?
a. The contractor shall provide all utility services, including potable water for the leak test. The Gov’t recommends a water truck (similar to services for filling pools).
2) For Section 33.5.1,
a. The contractor shall remove all conduit that will be empty after removing the power conductors and communication cables. In areas where the conduit is shared with other cables, the conductors/communication cables related to the Hersey Tank Level Indicators shall be removed, but the conduit can remain in these locations.
3) For Section 33.5.3, how many pressure gauges shall be provided to install.
a. There are 5 pressure gauges (2 at grade, and 3 on top of T-5/T-6 tanks). Contractor shall field verify sizes.
4) For Section 33.5.4, what to do with the residual oil from the system to complete this work?
a. The contractor shall be responsible for gathering and disposing of any Diesel Oil in an environmentally friendly way (per SOW Section 1.34) to complete the project. The oil cannot be drained to the Gov’t sewer systems.
5) For Section 33.7, What are the existing Sonix Ultrasonic Level Instruments and controller information on the Tank.
a. The Controller is a Sonix-2000. The Existing Transducers are Model 4012BS. The cable is a RG62A Coaxial cable. Links are below.
b. Existing Controller Information: https://automatedsonix.com/sonix-1000/
c. Existing T-5/T-6 Transducer Information https://automatedsonix.com/transducers/
d. Sonix Manual – See attached PDF.
6) For Section 33.8, what is the connection on top of T-6.
a. The connection is a 4-inch Flanged nozzle (Nozzle B) on the top of T-6. Nozzle H would also be available with Gov’t TPOC approval.
7) For Section 33.8.1.4, what is the area classification for this work? The diked area is a Class 1, Div 2 Electrical classification area.
SOW modifications
Change Section 33.5.1 from:
The Contractor shall remove six (6) Hersey Tank Tank-Level-Indicators (TLI) identified as Level Instrument Transmitters 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 and 8 on Sheet PI-2 of SOW Attachment 1 and remove associated level instruments and wiring. Plug new openings from level instrument removal with A182 Stainless Steel pipe nipple and cap with compatible thread sealant. The TLI transmitters are located on the eastern wall of the bulk fuel storage containment wall. Remove power conductors, and communication cables back to source.

Change Section 33.8.1 from:
The contractor shall install a new ultrasonic sensor (transducer) to Tank T-6 in the location of existing instrument TI-7 as shown on SOW Attachment 1. The existing connection is a 2-inch threaded connection. The contractor shall remove and discard existing transmitter TI-7 from T-6. The Tank details can be seen in SOW Attachment 1. Installation shall include all hardware for fitting the transducer to the tank port.

Change SOW Section 33.8.1.4 from:
The Contractor shall be responsible for providing any additional necessary electrical work, including but not limited to: providing and installing appropriately sized wiring, breakers, conduit, splice boxes, etc. to install and tie-in these panels to the new switchboard and downstream equipment. Provide all cabling with Intermediate Metallic Conduit between the transducer and existing controller/transmitter; set-screw type couplings are not permitted. Flexible conduit shall be limited to a maximum of 7 feet at the instrument end only.
