Certifications listing chemical analysis and mechanical testing results are to be included with all ingots shipped. Certification for the material used for the hooks used in the 42" and 60" diameter ingots is to be included with each shipment. An additional copy of these documents is to be sent to:

Foundry Materials Engineer, Naval Foundry and Propeller Center, Code 1420Q, 1701 Kitty Hawk Avenue, Philadelphia, PA.

All ingot heats are to include a minimum of 9 small (18 to 22 pound) ingots for testing purposes. These ingots are to be packaged with the ingots for which they represent. The weight of the test ingots is to be included in the weight against the contract.

Ingots of 24, 42, and 60 inch diameter are to have the manufacturer's heat number and the weight of the ingot painted on the ingot. Small ingots are to be stenciled with the CDA number C95800 and manufacturer's lot number.

All elements are to be reported to the number of decimal places shown above as a minimum. A value of none detected is not acceptable. If the value for an element is below the laboratory's detection limit for that element, then a report of less than whatever the detection limit is for that element may be used.

INGOT DESCRIPTIONS

60 INCH DIAMETER INGOTS

The 60 inch ingots are to have a top diameter of 60 +1- 5 inches weighing 9,000 to 11,000 pounds. The bottom diameter is to be smaller to allow for stacking with like ingots. The bottom is to be flat to allow for safe and even stacking. The ingot height is not to exceed 22 inches in height. Four steel hooks fabricated from ASTM A36 material, % inch minimum diameter, are to be cast into the ingot for lifting purposes. No weld repairs are allowed on any lifting hook. These hooks are to accommodate a crane hook and have a minimum opening of 2 inches. The hooks are to be spread to accommodate stacking with like ingots. A tag indicating the vendor's lot number and weight of the ingot is to be fastened to a lifting hook of each ingot. Certificate of Analysis/Compliance to ASTM A36 for the hooks is to be included with each shipment. This Certificate of Analysis/Compliance is to be signed by either the vendor or the vendor's supplier.

421NCH DIAMETER INGOTS

The 42 inch ingots are to have a top diameter of 42 +1- 3 inches weighing 4,500 to 5,500 pounds. The bottom diameter is to be smaller to allow for stacking with like ingots. The bottom is to be flat to allow for safe and even stacking. The ingot height is not to exceed 20 inches in height. Two steel hooks fabricated from ASTM A36 material, % inch minimum diameter, are to be cast into the ingot for lifting purposes.

241NCH DIAMETER INGOTS

The 24 inch ingots are to have a top diameter of 24 +1- 2 inches weighing 2,200 to 2,800 pounds. The bottom diameter is to be smaller to allow for stacking with like ingots. The bottom is to be flat to allow for safe and even stacking. The ingot height is not to exceed 32 inches in height. Two hooks of Nickel Aluminum bronze alloy are to be cast into the ingot for lifting purposes. These hooks are to accommodate a crane hook and have a minimum opening of 2 inches. The hooks are to be spread to accommodate stacking with like ingots. A tag indicating the vendor's lot number and weight of the ingot is to be fastened to a lifting hook of each ingot.

SMALL INGOTS

The small ingots are to be of a trapezoidal shape and weigh approximately 18 to 22 pounds each. These ingots are to be palletized and banded for handling and shipping. Multiple pallets may be used for each heat but only one heat may be included on each pallet. Two tags indicating alloy C95800, the vendor's lot number, and weight of the ingots are to be fastened to the banding of each pallet of ingots.
