Question1:

Section 1.1 "The Indicator Shall Be capable of:" "Writing new calibration data/ coefficients to load cells" - This is not possible, a correction could be Writing new calibration data/ coefficients to an EEPROM.

Answer: Section 1.1 is a summary of the CSS technical requirements, with the details being explained in the paragraphs that follow. Please see Paragraph 3.8.1 for System Interface, and Paragraph 3.8.3.10 for EEPROM.

Question 2: "System Accuracy: +/- 4 lbf from 1,000 to 20,000 lbf" Without specifying a Test Uncertainty Ratio,(TUR) It would be permissible to use a reference standard accurate to only 1 %. The accuracy requirement only states the permissible amount of deviation from normal values, not the amount of uncertainty allowed in the reference standard used to calibrate the required load cell.

Please state the required TUR or the minimum requirement for the reference standard used to calibrate the required load cell.

Answer: Please see Paragraph 3.10.4 to the updated Calibration Standards Document (CSS-06-0179 V.2)

Question 3: "Calibration. The Kit shall meet the calibration requirements as specified below in 3.10.1 Calibration certificate through 3.10.3 Calibration procedure...."

"Calibration Certificate. The equipment provided under this CSS shall have a current calibration certificate, with a calibration data sheet, traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)" Corrections should be made to state traceable to SI units, through N.I.S.T.

Answer: Please see Paragraph 3.10.1 for the Governments minimum requirement.
