About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding cable assembly procurement. The Navy is soliciting quotes for cable assemblies under solicitation number N6339421Q0122. The solicitation requires one consolidated quote for all cable assemblies rather than separate quotes for each contract line item or year. While the drawings specify connector forms, manufacturers and part numbers are not mandated for components like backshells and connectors. Certificates of compliance and inspection reports must be provided to confirm cable assemblies meet drawing specifications.

Questions &Answers Question:

1. Are these cables to be quoted as AS FAI documents all material, all inspection points, test results provided, and every aspect of the drawing is detailed?

Answer:

Spoke to our Project Engineer regarding cables and confirmed, we do not want First Article anything. We just need standard CofCs and copy of inspection report for each cable confirming it meets drawings specifications

Question:

1. Can each of the options (Base year, 1st Yr., 2nd Yr., 3rd Yr, 4th Yr.) be on separate quotes or does it have to be all on one quote?

Answer:

Quotes are to be submitted according to what is in the solicitation. One quote and not separated.

Questions:

1. DS210033

0. Is backshell required for P1, if so, need the PN. Also Need manufacturer name for D3W3F

1. DS210045, DS210061, DS210086, DS210087

1. Need manufacturer name for P/N. D5W1F for assembly DS210045.

1. Need manufacturer name for P/N. D7W2F for assembly DS210061.

1. Need manufacturer name for P/N. D5W1M for assembly DS210087.

1. Ds210066

2. Need P1 backshell PN

2. Need manufacturer P/N. for D5C5F.

Answer:

The drawings only specify the form of the connector. This allows for the use of connectors that meet the required form. For example, drawing DS210033-1 identifies connector P1 as having the form of D3W3F. The DS210033-1 connector P1 has the following properties:

Type of Connector - D or D-subminiature Connector Contact Arrangement - 3W3 Gender of Connector - F or Female Connector

The d-subminiature connectors all require backshells. The drawings do not specify a backshell part number. Instead, the drawing states that "all d-sub connectors shall be injected molded with machine contacts and strain relief with 4-40 jack screws." Injection molding is the manufacturing process for producing rubber or plastic parts by injecting heated material into a mold.
