TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
1.3.6 Crane Removal
Following this paragraph, add this new paragraph:
“1.3.7 Runway Rail Realignment
The existing survey shows that the current runway does not meet the requirements of the standard (CMAA Specification 70, Table 1.4.2 - 1). The Contractor shall realign runway rails to within the tolerances listed in CMAA Specification 70, Table 1.4.2 – 1. Following realignment, perform a runway rail survey, and submit survey data and report showing final alignment is within specification. The nominal span of the runway may be adjusted to provide the best fit to the existing alignment, and minimize the amount of rail adjustment needed. The runway rail survey conducted by the activity is in Appendix J.”

Delete this submittal item in its entirety and replace with the following:
“SD-07.3 Crane Runway Rail Survey and Report
Following runway rail realignment, the contractor shall submit a survey report which includes the runway rail survey data, showing that the runway has been aligned to the tolerances provided by this contract. The contractor shall provide a certificate stating that the newly aligned runway is suitable for the new crane to operate on without any restrictions.”

Runway Rail Survey and Report
A runway rail survey and report performed by the Activity is included in Appendix J, and accompanies this Amendment.
Amendment 0003
RESPONSE TO INQUIRIES
1. Where is the door located to access the bay?
Answer: The door is on the West end of the building, leading straight to the bay, but not necessary at center of the bay.
2. What is the size of the door? Any special supports needed to cross the door?
Answer: Door is about 11'-8" wide x 17' high. The floor inside the door is concrete on grade, the contractor will need to evaluate the need for additional support to prevent damage to the facility based on their intended equipment and loadings.
3. Dwg IR14486 Is the spacing between the runway supports continuous or are there columns? 1'-0" is shown but is that true for the full length of runway?
Answer: The rail support corbels are at each column. The column spacing is about 20' typically. Column spacing at the ends are slightly less. The walls between the columns are about 54' apart. In other words each columns extend into the space by about 18" excluding the corbel.

GEOMETRIC ANALYSIS - RUNWAY
Measured runway:
Type:
Length: 393.7 ft Span: 49'-0" Rail to rail H: 0 in Manufacturer of runway:
Year of installation: 1946 Date of earlier measurement: None Date of inspection: 9/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
1 GENERAL
The condition of the runway strongly influences how well a crane moves on its rails, and also affects the usability and lifetime of the travelling machinery units. The CRS Runway Analysis checks that the permitted geometrical tolerances are met, by measuring them and by visually inspecting the rails and their fixings. The method and measuring devices of the CRS Runway Analysis and Konecranes’s requirements for the analysis are described in detail in the corresponding CRS instructions.
A visual and optical inspection was conducted on the crane runway, which is used by cranes 402627. Only the part of the runway was measured at this time, because it is in heavier use and the given time was too short to measure the whole runway. The measured section was
358.3 ft in length, which is approximately 91% of the length of the whole runway. The visual inspection, however, was conducted on the whole runway. The distances between the measuring points were about 119 in. The measured values were compared to tolerances defined in CMAA Specification 70, Table 1.4.2 - 1. The findings of the visual inspection were compared to the installation drawings and to Konecranes’s requirements.
The inspection was made by: Steve Baker
Description:
The runway rail type is ‘60 lb’. The rails inspected were 1 (NORTH) and 2 (SOUTH), as shown in Fig. 1.

2 RESULTS
2.1 Geometry
Geometry of the runway is calculated by using the measuring points. Geometry is analysed and the runway span, straightness, elevation and rail to rail elevation are compared to the allowed values.
2.1.1 Span
Span difference values are given in Table 1. According to the selected standard it is required that the measured runway span compared to the nominal span (588 in) does not differ more than ±0.189 in.
The maximum allowed span deviation (±0.189 in) is exceeded in 34 of the measured points.
The biggest measured span deviation is 0.73 in at the measure point 1017 on the rail 1. This is 0.54 in outside the allowed tolerance.

2.1.2 Straightness
Straightness deviation is calculated by comparing the horizontal location of each measured point to the regression line of the runway rail. Straightness deviation values are given in Table 2 and Table 3. Maximum allowed deviation in straightness is ±0.375 in according to the selected standard.
The maximum allowed straightness deviation (±0.375 in) is exceeded in 1 of the measured points. The biggest measured straightness deviation is -0.43 in at the measure point 1001 on the rail 1. This is -0.05 in outside the allowed tolerance.

2.1.4 Rail to Rail elevation
Rail to rail elevation difference is calculated by comparing the vertical location of each measured point to the vertical location of the closest point of the other rail. Rail to rail elevation deviation values are given in Tables 6. Maximum allowed deviation in rail to rail elevation is ±0.189 in according to the selected standard.
The maximum allowed rail to rail elevation deviation (±0.189 in) is exceeded in 23 of the measured points. The biggest measured rail to rail elevation deviation is -0.71 in at the measure point 1036 on the rail 1. This is -0.53 in outside the allowed tolerance.

2.3 Visual inspection
3 ASSESSMENT OF RESULTS
The geometrical measurement shows that the runway does NOT meet the requirements of the standard (CMAA Specification 70, Table 1.4.2 - 1).
The maximum allowed span deviation (±0.189 in) is exceeded in 34 of the measured points.
The biggest measured span deviation is 0.73 in at the measure point 1017 on the rail 1. This is 0.54 in outside the allowed tolerance.
The maximum allowed straightness deviation (±0.375 in) is exceeded in 1 of the measured points. The biggest measured straightness deviation is -0.43 in at the measure point 1001 on the rail 1. This is -0.05 in outside the allowed tolerance.
The maximum allowed elevation deviation (±0.375 in) isn't exceeded in any of the measured points. The biggest measured elevation deviation is 0.37 in at the measure point 2036 on the rail 2.
We would recommend correction of both the horizontal and vertical deviations.
