Statement of Work

Syntactic Foam Buoys

1.0 Background: Code N93 of the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) collects ocean ambient noise to support Navy-wide Ocean modeling databases. Code N93 uses ambient noise acoustical buoys to collect in-situ data in support of this tasking. The buoys are housed in flotation devices constructed using positively buoyant syntactic foam, stainless steel framing, and UHMW polyethylene skid protectors. These packages are designed for long term usage under extreme conditions.

2.0 Scope: The objective of this Statement of Work is to procure fabricated Syntactic Foam

Deployment Packages.

3.0 Syntactic Foam Deployment Packages: The contractor shall fabricate the parts listed below according to the drawings. Each complete package will then be assembled by the contractor prior to delivery. Each package will include the following components:

4.0 DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS:

4.1 All parts will be delivered to NAVOCEANO by the contractor. The contractor shall deliver the packages no later than 60 Days after Receipt of Order (ARO).

4.2 Quality Assurance: The contractor shall ensure all delivered packages conform to the drawings. Each package shall be delivered with the contractor’s quality control documentation. The contractor’s quality control form shall at a minimum meet SAE-

AS91021 Revision A standards.

5.0 FIRST ARTICLE REQUIREMENTS

5.1 First Article: To ensure the deployment packages are built to specification, a first article test may be required at the Government’s discretion. To be approved, the first article must meet the specifications identified herein. If first article approval is required, once approved it will serve as the manufacturing standard for subsequent packages.

5.2 The Government may waive the requirement for first article approval test where supplies identical or similar to those called for in the schedule have previously been furnished by the

Contractor and have been accepted by the Government.

5.3 The contractor shall ship one (1) deployment package to NAVOCEANO for testing within 30 days of contract award.
