| 1 | (b)(1)(i) | “Crew Chiefs (when scheduled) must attend concurrently with a C-40A Pilot Initial attendee and will sit behind the pilot during simulator periods and perform duties per the C-40A NATOPS, as applicable.” | What specific tasks, conditions, and standards are required training for Crew Chiefs? Please elaborate, or if possible, provide the NATOPS manual specifying C40A Crew Chief tasks and training requirements. |
Are we correct to assume Crew Chief training/evaluation requirements include the e-learning provided to pilots, systems classes provided to pilots, Computer Based Training provided to pilots, and the ability to observe Pilot training in both the Part Task Trainer and the simulator?
| The Crew Chief when scheduled, are required to attend the same ground training classes as initial pilots for the purpose of systems training. Their focus will be on systems training and checklist procedures and are not required to be evaluated on specfic pilot flight procedures. Crew Chiefs are evaluated in accordance with their NATOPS checklist procedures and are not evaluated to pilot standards. Crew Chiefs may be required to sit in during simulator and Part Task Trainer events to gain proficiency and provide assistance during pre- and post-flight checklists. Crew Chiefs are allowed access to any available CBT, however, Crew Chiefs are not required to attend pilot specific procedural flight trainng such as eLearning International Procedures. | |||
