Drawing 5971718 Additional Information

NAVFAC P-307

NSTM CHAPTER 589 (CRANES)

Note 3 on drawing 5971718 outlines the load testing of the hook, it references NAVFAC P-307 and NSTM CHAPTER 589 (CRANES). Summing up these two references, the greater of the two specifications indicate that the hook shall be tested to 200% the indicated WLL for 2 minutes. The WLL of these hooks is 1500 lbs, thus the test should be conducted at 3000 lbs.

WLL = Working Load Limit

The second half of that same note mentions an overload test, this is a separate test to be performed on a separate hook (hence the odd number of hooks). I need a report for that hook, showing the 8000 lb load test for 2 minutes and a before and after measurement between the inspection points. This hook will not be delivered to the fleet.
