Attachment J.3 - FLIGHT TEST PREPARATION AND FLIGHT TESTING SCENARIO ASSESSMENT

Support a 7-day on-site data collection event at a near-by military base with two systems being flown each day over land and water. The System test hardware which may contain lasers and delicate imaging equipment would be furnished by a contractor.

System #1 requires appropriate approvals to fly the system on a Bell 407. The design, fabrication, and approval of two external pods to carry the scientific equipment must be accomplished along with an internal laptop computer setup for communicating with equipment in the pod as well as with power distribution to the pod and computer rack. Each of the two pods is approximately ( ~60”L x ~23”W x ~22”H with top hat extrusion at one end to 27”H) and they each weigh ~400lbs. The two pods are flown one on each side of the platform and must also allow for ingress and egress. The total power draw for both pods is ~3000W.

Sensor #2 requires appropriate approvals to fly the system on a Huey. The design, fabrication, and approval of a large external under-belly center-mounted pod (~ 50”L x ~ 40”W x ~ 20”H) with weight of 400lbs is required to fly the scientific equipment. Additionally, a large externally flown speaker system weighing ~ 400 lbs (pyramidal in shape - 4’H x 4’ square at the base) is needed to be flown both hard mounted externally and/or flown from a wire ~25’ below the helicopter, depending on testing requirements. The power draw for the pod is ~4500W and for the speaker is ~2500W. An external generator (up to 10KW) is flown for powering one of the devices. Several internal equipment racks require mounting in the cabin for use by scientist and contain computers, power supplies, laser chillers, amplifiers, inverters, etc. all weighing several hundred additional pounds.

Each system is flown up to twice a day over nearby fields.

For the above Scenario: Describe all details of how you would execute the required work to meet the testing requirements and the requirements of the SOW.
