Questions and Answers N61331‐24‐T‐JK21 EBAC Frame Kits Fabrication

1. We received the SAM Link for the EBAC Frame Kits Fabrication Drawings. The package did not contain the CRATE DRAWING. Please verify the drawing numbers and REV and/or forward the drawings at your earliest convenience? The crate is not part of this procurement and not listed as one of the items in the Frame Kit Drawing 7246277.

2. Do you have any recommendations as to how this is to be packaged or crated? This is the way a prior vendor packaged them. The base weldment (7246220) was placed on a pallet with the other machined parts wrapped and placed on the base with the loose hardware boxed. Then the cover assembly (7246225) was placed on the base containing it all.

Two of the frame kits per pallet with foam between them to prevent damage. Make sure they are not stacked to prevent damage to the covers.

3. We have noticed that the solicitation is calling out for frame kit 7236227. The prints are all referencing 7246227. I am assuming it is a typo on the solicitation but for the sake of protecting everyone involved I wanted to make sure there was not a different set of prints? The correct reference is 7246227.

4. Would you be able to provide us with the Flat Pattern or Models for this Solicitation? This is for a Bauer C‐D/DV/NAVY/SS compressor. Each drawing in the package states what material is to be used.

5. We are looking for drawings that show the pieces flat (before folding) so we can determine how much material would be needed for each piece. A STEP file would work, if that is available?

According to the technical POC a step file is not available just the drawings provided in SAM.

6. I looked over 7246225, having trouble indicating how the cover is supposed to be welded together. There is no callout on the drawing for welding the side, front and back panel together. I only see the stiffeners to be spot welded and handles to be welded in location. The sides are attached with a 0.06 weld continuous along the mating seam on the outside. I have attached two pictures of one we have here.

7. Please confirm our understanding that the US Navy, requires ,sixty four,64 Emergency Breathing Air Compressor (EBAC) Frame Kit per drawing #7246227-Rev D? Correct. Our requirement for

FY24 is 64 kits.

8. Do the the EBAC Frame Kits ship fully assembled as shown on drawing #7246227, with the loose parts packed separately & incorporated into the domestic wooden shipping pallet.

Packed, in such manner to afford maximum protection to equipment @ all times

Navy, Q&A sheet indicates that the Navy prefers 2 assemblies packed one skid! is this correct, please clarify? The Frame kits will not ship fully assembled.

9. Does Navy require the stenciling of part numbers on these assemblies? Some parts are required to be marked with a part number and it is indicated in the notes.

10. Drawing 7246222 rev - flag note 2 calls for ALUMINUM ALLOY PER UNS-60610; ASTM B209. I have seen 6061 T-6 B209, and I have seen 6061 T-0. The reason for concern is that the Belt Guard, F/N 15 and F/N 16 in the parts list on Drwg. 7246222 rev - show 11-gauge material being bent using a .12 bend radius. That is under the minimum bend radius recommended for 6061 T-6 11-gauge material. It could be done using 6061 T-0 condition material and then be heat treated to the final temper whatever that may be. A less expensive solution would be to increase the bend radius to a minimum bend radius for 11-gauge 6061 T-6... if that's what the material is suppose to be? Typo….should be 6061‐T0 which is softest temper and will allow tight bends. There is no need to heat treat to T6.
