About this file

This is a technical drawing and specifications document for a 1,000 mL cylinder leak measurement device (LMD), designated as Assembly F-372, Drawing 2340-0010, Revision G, Chapter 5. The document details the manufacturing specifications and assembly requirements for a precision acrylic measurement cylinder used in conjunction with the Navy's procurement solicitation N4523A26Q4046.

The device consists of a clear acrylic block measuring 2.85" × 2.85" × 15.5" with a 2.500" diameter bore, marked with graduated measurements from 0 to 1,000 mL in 100 mL increments with ±0.5% accuracy (5.0cc tolerance). Key specifications include: marks engraved to minimum 0.02" depth with 0.124" ±0.002" spacing between marks; a gasket assembly (Buna-N or EPM O-Ring, AS 568-229, Durometer 70-80); a 9/16-18/F threaded port per SAE J1926/1 for 3/8" OD tube connection; and four #10-24 × 0.88 stainless steel cap screws (10-15 inch-pound torque). Manufacturing requirements mandate clear acrylic starting material, surfaces finished for visibility, strict cleanliness standards, and workmanship conforming to best commercial practices. Standard tolerances apply: ±1/64" for fractions, ±1° for angles, ±0.005" for decimals, and 125 Ra surface roughness. The document includes manufacturing notes on assembly procedures, material specifications, and surface finish requirements to ensure proper leak measurement functionality.

Notes

1. CLEANLINESS- The inside and outside surfaces of the finished product shall be clean and free from contamination.

2. WORKMANSHIP-Shall conform to the best commercial practices to produce high quality products. Material shall be free from defects, voids, burrs, silvers, gouges, or other imperfections that may interfere with the use of the material for which it is intended.

3. PACKAGING- Items shall be protected by wrapping, cushioning, pack compartmentalization, or other means to prevent damage to surface due to shipping or rough handling.

4. Unless otherwise specified matching tolerances are as follows: fractions ±1/64”; angles ±1o; decimals ± .005”; surface roughness, 125 Ra (roughness average;) radius .010”-.030”. All dimensions and tolerances are in inches unless specified otherwise.

5. Use extreme caution to avoid over tightening the four cap screws that attach Pc. 2 to Pc. 1. Recommended torque value is 10-15 inch pounds.

6. Starting material for Leakage Measuring Device (LMD) shall be clear, transparent Acrylic. Surface shall be finished to insure clear visibility through the LMD.

7. Marks on the front of the LMD shall have a maximum width of 0.05 inches, and be engraved to a minimum depth of .02 inches before painting. Diamonds on back need not be engraved, and may be painted, black tape used, or some other suitable marking method. Size of each number shall be approximately .125” wide X .25” tall, and aligned to the left of the marks as shown in Figure 4.

8. The dimension 0.124 ±.002” between marks is top-of-mark to top-of-mark, center-to-center, etc. Marks shall be evenly spaced and horizontally centered.

9. The 12.432±.005” tolerance, along with the 2.500±.005” for the inside diameter of the LMD tube bore, were selected to provide full scale accuracy within ±0.5% (±5.0cc).

10. The top and bottom surfaces of the LMD block (top of Pc. 2 and bottom of Pc. 1) are assumed to resemble a machined surface; therefore the d2 and L3 dimensions of SAE J1926/1 do not apply per Table 1, footnote 1 of SAE J1926/1. Ensure top and bottom of assembled LMD are smooth and free from cracks, burrs, etc.
