PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT (PWS) [TEMPLATE]

HANKOOK R80 PROPULSION SHAFT LATHE REPAIRS

PUGET SOUND NAVAL SHIPYARD AND IMF

Part 1

General Information

1. GENERAL: This is a non-personnel services contract to provide maintenance on a Hankook R80 propulsion shaft lathe. Maintenance shall include leveling and aligning both the carriage and tailstock beds, axis compensation for positioning accuracy and repeatability, carriage hydrostatic gage replacement, hydraulic and hydrostatic filter and oil change, and component tuning, steady rest alignment, manufacturing of steady rest alignment keys, removal of one manual turning steady rest, and testing of all requirements. English speaking Korean factory technicians shall perform this maintenance. All maintenance performed shall meet the requirements listed in the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan

(QASP). The Government shall not exercise any supervision or control over the contract service providers performing the services herein. Such contract service providers shall be accountable solely to the

Contractor who, in turn is responsible to the Government.

1.1 Description of Services/Introduction: The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and non-personal services necessary to perform the Hankook R80 Propulsion Shaft Lathe repairs as defined in this Performance Work

Statement. The contractor shall perform to the standards in this contract.

1.2 Background: The Hankook R80 Propulsion Shaft Lathe is generating hydrostatic CNC faults and rupturing hydrostatic lines due to the system being out of adjustment. Hankook has indicated that the hydrostatic faults are being caused by the bed of the machine being out of level.

The lower rollers on the steady rests do not align with the spindle centerline because the alignment keys were removed by Hankook America technicians who installed the machine. The lower rollers on the four

(4) steady rests shall be aligned with the spindle centerline and step keys manufactured to fit in the existing keyways.

One of the manual steady rests shall be removed for storage.

1.3 Objectives:

Align and level both carriage and tailstock bed to factory specifications

Compensate axes accuracy and repeatability to factory specifications

Carriage hydrostatic gage replacement

Hydraulic and hydrostatic fluid change

Hydraulic and hydrostatic filter change

Tune and test hydraulic and hydrostatic systems to factory specifications

Remove one (1) manual steady rest

Align steady rests with spindle centerline

Manufacture step keys to hold steady rest alignment

Perform testing for all requirements

1.4 Scope: This Performance Work Statement (PWS) describes the minimum requirements of the

Government for services on a Hankook R80 Propulsion Shaft Lathe. The services include leveling and aligning both the carriage and tailstock beds, axis compensation for positioning accuracy and repeatability, carriage hydrostatic gage replacement, hydraulic and hydrostatic oil change and component tuning, steady rest alignment, manufacturing of steady rest alignment keys, removal of one manual turning steady rest, and testing of all requirements.
