About this file

This is a Statement of Work detailing requirements for shaft seal inspection services on the USNS Matthew Perry (TAKE 9) ship located at Tango Pier in Guam. The work involves inspecting the ship's shaft seal closed loop system, specifically the external piping, fittings, and pipe hangers exterior of the hull aft of shaft alley Frame 85 to the stern tube.

The contractor must conduct a pre-dive planning meeting with key stakeholders to discuss communications, emergency procedures, vessel drafts, and environmental conditions. Key inspection requirements include checking all welds for cracks, examining the Stern Tube Aft Seal Adapter Plate for weld damage, assessing the overall material condition of the Stern Tube System for leaks, and inspecting the protective covering of the STFW system aft seal supply piping. The work must be completed on February 22, 2025, as it is a prerequisite for an upcoming sea trial. The contractor must submit inspection reports electronically in PDF format with photographs. The point of contact is Ed Madrelino, and special attention must be paid to high voltage electrical systems safety requirements due to the T-AKE class's non-standard electrical color coding.
