About this file

This is a Statement of Work detailing requirements for shaft seal inspection services aboard the USNS Matthew Perry (TAKE 9) at Tango Pier in Guam. The work involves inspecting the ship's shaft seal closed loop system, including examination of external piping, fittings, pipe hangers exterior of the hull aft of shaft alley Frame 85 to the stern tube, as well as inspection of all welds, the Stern Tube Aft Seal Adapter Plate, and protective covering of the STFW system aft seal supply piping.

The work is scheduled for February 22-24, 2025 and requires coordination with ship's force for equipment lockout/tagout procedures. A Pre-Dive Planning Meeting must be conducted with key stakeholders to discuss communications, emergency procedures, vessel drafts, clearances, and tides/currents. The contractor must submit inspection reports electronically in PDF format with photographs. Special safety considerations include high voltage electrical systems with non-standard color coding. The point of contact is Ed Madrelino at the provided Navy email and phone numbers. No government furnished equipment is provided, and there are no additional quality assurance requirements beyond those specified in the General Technical Requirements.
