About this file
This is Amendment 0002 to NAVFAC Specification 7472959 for replacing a defective generator at Building B400 at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC. The amendment provides responses to pre-award RFIs and maintains the original deadlines of March 11, 2025 at 9:00 AM for RFI submissions and March 20, 2025 at 12:00 PM local time for proposal due date.
The RFI responses clarify that the replacement generator should remain 80kW (despite the 174kW building load, as the original load calculation was determined to be overshot), the existing 2-year-old fuel tank shall be reused, and no new fuel is needed as it was removed by EAD. Technical specifications include: 600 Amp ATS, 150 Amp breaker, outdoor installation requiring industrial exhaust silencer and full weather enclosure with level 1 sound attenuation. Existing conductors/feeders and control wiring will be reused. The concrete pad measures 16' x 5' x 6" thick, and the site is accessible by small rubber-tired crane. The government confirms that the new generator will be compatible with the existing fuel tank despite supplier concerns about warranty issues.

Amendment 0002 7472959 Replace Defective Generator B400
RFI Responses:
1. The SOW requires the CTR to replace the existing generator with a like in kind. The existing generator is 80kW. The building load is 174kW. Should the replacement be 230kW to prevent overloading the generator.
Response: No, the existing generator size is fine, the original KW load was overshot by the original designer. 80kw is sufficient.
2. Generator suppliers are suggesting replacing the fuel tank, for warranty purposes for the new generator.
Response: No, the existing fuel tank shall be reused, it is undamaged and is only 2 years old.
3. Is there fuel in the existing tank? Will it be removed and new fuel added?
Response: No, all the fuel was removed by EAD.
4. What is the existing ATS Amp size?
Response: 600 Amp.
5. Is this an outdoor unit?
Response: Yes
6. Is any special sound attenuation needed
Response: Yes, an industrial exhaust silencer, and full weather enclosure with level 1 sound attenuation.
7. Are we reusing the conductors/feeders and control wiring
8. What size breaker is on the existing genset
Response: 150 Amp
9. If this is an indoor unit can we do a site visit to measure exhaust and airflow requirements.

10. Is the site accessible for a small crane using rubber tires?
11. Can we get pictures or can we do a site visit
