Amendment 0003 7230124 Replace Fire Sprinklers B232

RFI Responses:

1. There isn’t an attic access as shown on the drawings. It appears that all of the sheetrock that separated the attic from the living space has been previously removed and a acoustical ceiling has been installed with insulation laying on top of it. The acoustical ceiling and insulation will have to be removed for the sprinkler system to be replaced. This isn’t shown on the scope of work in the contract documents. Please advise.

Response:

Reference Revised NAVFAC Drawing 12912790. Catwalk is accessable through suspended ceiling.

Work can be performed on catwalk. Reference Revised NAVFAC Drawing 12912790 GENERAL NOTE

1. Submit Proposals in accordance with RFP, Specs, Drawings and all amendments.

2. Is the ceiling and insulation to be replaced or the existing reinstalled?

Existing ceiling tile and insulation to be replaced if damaged during construction. Reference Revised NAVFAC Drawing 12912790 GENERAL NOTE 1. Submit Proposals in accordance with RFP, Specs, Drawings and all amendments.

3. With the ceiling being removed, all existing furniture will have to be removed and or moved and protected. The existing furniture has not been addressed in the contract documents. Please review and advise.

Response:

Existing ceiling tile and insulation to be replaced if damaged during construction. Reference Revised NAVFAC Drawing 12912790 GENERAL NOTE 1. Submit Proposals in accordance with RFP, Specs, Drawings and all amendments.

4. The building is to remain in operation while the contract is being performed. With the work having to be completed through the ceilings (3.5’ from truss to peak and no working platform) we don’t think the building can remain occupied. In addition, once the sprinkler system is removed, wouldn’t this become a life safety issue if the building were to remain occupied?

Response:

Work can be performed on catwalk. Reference Revised NAVFAC Drawing 12912790 GENERAL NOTE

5. It appears that the louvers at the gable ends of the building will have to be removed and reinstalled to get the new piping into the attic. See the attached picture. Is this acceptable?
