SUMMARY OF CHANGES
AMENDMENT 0002
The purpose of this amendment is to provide the following:
1. Provide responses to pre-proposal inquiries.
Date Submitted
Question Answer
5/17/2024 Will the parking lot adjacent to the water tower be available as a laydown area?
Yes, the parking lot will be available.
5/17/2024
Will the government be responsible for emptying the water tank or will that responsibility fall on the contractor?
The BGS water department will isolate valves and empty the water tower. This will take a couple days to perform since we send the discharge to wastewater for treatment.
What qualifications will be required for the tank painter/welder? QP1/QP2?
All Contractors and Subcontractors that perform surface preparation or coating application shall be certified to either ISO 9001 or SSPC QP 1 and SSPC QS
1. (Excerpt from spec 09 97 13.27 –
HIGH PERFORMANCE COATING
FOR STEEL STRUCTURES)
Will this work be performed during normal working hours or will this need to be performed outside normal hours?
Normal work hours beginning no earlier than 0730 are acceptable.
5/17/2024 Are there any months during the summer months where the tank cannot be out of service due to irrigation needs?
There’s no time/date restrictions when removing the tower for service.
Will there be a need to repaint the NSA logo on the water tower?
Yes. Repaint logo to match in kind.
5/17/2024 Will there be adequate fire protection for the base with this tank being out of service?
Fire protection would be supplied by the other tower located on base.
Can the oak tree that is near the water tower be trimmed back to accommodate the shroud around the tower during the paint removal/application or will this tree need to be completely removed and replace?
The tree can be trimmed as long as it doesn’t impact the overall health of the tree and result in a dead tree. This should be completed in the winter when the tree is dormant and to avoid migratory bird nesting season.
Can we confirm that one person can perform the duties of superintendent, SSHO, and QC manager?
Refer to spec section 01 35 26 Government Safety Regulations subsection 1.7.1.1.1 - "The SSHO may also serve as the Quality Control Manager. The SSHO may not serve as the Superintendent."
