1 Please confirm the quantity of milling to be disposed of at the Palmetto Circle location in Laurel and also the on-site location for disposal of the remaining milling arisings.

Move 2200 CY to Laurel Bay, near Palmetto Circle.

utilities, including tie-in position, available at this alternate location.

5 CD-101 The fixture protection plan notes do not clearly indicate the extent of the work needed to remove and replace the simulated carrier deck fixtures in the asphalt pavement.

How many fixtures will need to be removed and reinstalled on this drawing? What is the extent of the saw kerf work that will need to be redone after the new pavement is placed?

According to referenced drawings E210 and E3041, approximately 12 lights should be included in the base bid for cost and quantities. All fixture work for the existing airfield lighting is to be completed prior to any finished surface courses and therefore no saw kurfs are preferred.

However, for bidding purposes, account for 3 each, 6" in depth saw kerfs by 1/2" in width, and 100 LF in length for existing airfield lighting within the asphalt portion of the runway. Allow for applicable joint sealant (i.a.w. A1/CD501detail) after saw kerfing is completed.

14 Section 32 01 16.71, G-005 Note 11

3.2 Specification Section

32 01 16.71 Cold Milling Asphalt Paving at paragraph 3.2 states “Material that is removed will become the property of the contractor and removed from the site.”

Drawing Sheet G-005 Note 11 states “Demolished asphalt millings shall be used to stabilize haul routes or placed as directed by the contracting officer in areas near or on the airfield. The remainder of the millings shall be stockpiled at an off-site location within 5 miles from the installation.”

Further, the Hot Mix and Warm Mix Asphalt specs allow for recycling millings and placing the recycled asphalt on the shoulders and intermediate courses.

Please clarify the disposition of the asphalt millings.

As stated PPI 30 from the previous solicitation, also from the site visit for this solicitation, as well as the responses to PPI's # 3 and #4 of this solicitation, millings can be used to provide a "road" to haul from the runway to and from the batch plant or millings stock pile areas. Those would have to be removed after completion of the project. Stockpile of some of the millings would be located at Wren Way & Palmetto Circle in Laurel Bay, SC.

15 On plan sheet CD-500 detail B2 shows a “New Shoulder Construction Detail”.

Since there is no new shoulder, where does this detail apply?

As stated in the response to PPI #31 from the previous solicitation the new shoulder pavement detail was included in the event that the shoulder thicknesses were less than allowable by milling operations and full depth reconstruction would need to occur. No new shoulder construction is anticipated for this project.

16 On plan sheet CD500 detail B3 shows a “Full Depth Reconstruction Detail” for runway asphalt. Since there is no new runway pavement, where does this detail apply?

As stated in the response to PPI #32 from the previous solicitation, the full depth paving detail was included in the event arises for full depth repair on the runway pavement surfaces. It is not anticipated that any full depth repairs will be on this project.
