Statement of Work

NAVFAC MIDLANT

Fire Truck Body & Component Damage Repairs

STATEMENT OF WORK:

NAVFAC is requesting the contractor to repair the vehicle body and frame damage on 2009 Pierce Velocity fire truck USN 74-00107. This is an urgent requirement, and therefore the work shall be completed in a timely manner (see Period of Performance section below). The repairs are required as a result of damages incurred during an accident whereby the rear of the fire truck received some damages. In addition to the surface damages, the accident broke some component welds and knocked the service body, driver outrigger and axle out of alignment with the rest of the truck.

Since this vehicle is an aerial ladder truck, the lower components of the vehicle, frame, and leveling outriggers act as a sturdy structural base to support that self-attached ladder during use. For safety reasons, it is important that the repairs of the vehicle are performed in accordance to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications (i.e. all components are brought back into proper alignment, outriggers fully extend and retract to match the other non-damaged side, etc.).

See photos of the damage below:

Photo 1: The circled area is where the impact took place; photo taken at the scene of the accident.

Photo 2: Shows the damage to the driver outrigger, service body, fender flare and rear axle out of alignment.

Photo 3: Shows how much out of alignment the service body and axle are to the frame

Photo 4: Shows the severe damage to the driver side outrigger. This has rendered the aerial ladder inoperable.
