About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation N3904026Q5077, relating to zinc and cadmium plating services for the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command. The solicitation involves plating services for specific components including a Dolly, Clevis, Levers, and Locks, with precise technical requirements for each part. Key specifications include cadmium plating for the Dolly per QQ-P-416 Type II Class 2 with supplementary chromate treatment, zinc coating for other components per QQ-Z-325 Type II Class 2, and specific material grades including MIL-S-15083 for most components.
The Q&A document reveals critical operational details such as mandatory part stripping before re-plating, hydrogen-embrittlement relief baking requirements within 4 hours after plating, and confirmation that components will be pre-disassembled for the vendor. The parts will be delivered to Naval Base Point Loma in San Diego, California. While a site visit is not permitted, the naval contracting team indicates that parts are small enough to be provided to the vendor if needed for assessment. The solicitation involves precise metallurgical specifications, with specific thickness requirements, material grades, and post-plating treatment protocols for each component.
