Note: Contractor must be familiar with the technical requirements for foundations in Tunisia which exceed the technical requirements of neighboring countries. As an example of these technical requirements, for similar building in Tunisia managed by NAVFAC, it was necessary to excavate 4 meters deep and provide 4 meters high of cast-in place reinforced concrete beams and walls under the grade elevation, filling the spaces between these foundation structures with select fill compacted at every 30 cm.

The Contractor shall provide heavy-duty, reinforced concrete floor slabs minimum 16 cm thickness.

3.3.5. Interior Doors

Provide interior doors of either Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) solid doors and frames or solid hard wood construction at the Range Operations Center.

A modern composite laminate, GRP is a versatile and well proven construction material that has been in use for over 50 years in a huge variety of applications. GRP is an inherently dent resistant laminate, able to withstand knocks and blows that would easily permanently deform and damage a traditional steel door. Unlike steel, GRP door panels will not rust or corrode. Unlike wood, GRP door panels will not shrink, swell, warp or twist and do not require the regular attention needed to ensure a wood door retains its good looks.

Solid hard wood requires the doors to be made with solid core hard wood. Hard wood is defined as the wood from a broadleaved tree (such as oak, ash, or beech) as distinguished from that of conifers.

General requirements for interior doors:

- All doors shall be installed without bottom thresholds

- All doors to be installed with heavy duty stainless-steel hinges and stainless-steel handles

- All doors shall be designed to resist a vertical force of 200 kg without any deflection

- All doors to be lockable

- All doors to be provided with professional door signs. Contractor to coordinate door signage with Beneficiary and NAVFAC COR.

Interior doors separating toilets and/or sink areas at the Public Toilets/Latrine facility can either be interior doors with louvers at the bottom for ventilation or HDPE toilet partitions, with properties durable for use in an exterior latrine facility, mold resistant, corrosion resistant, and graffiti resistant.

Hardware for the doors: All doors shall be provided with stainless steel locks, stainless steel handles, stainless-steel heavy-duty hinges, door stops, and all required accessories. The Contractor shall provide a master key system.

Exterior doors shall be designed and built with the following minimum requirements:

- European standard aluminum profiles with break in the thermal bridge with three rubber dust protection seals

- With triple glazing in the upper half, like the ones specified for exterior windows

- With required locks and anti-panic hardware, all made of stainless steel

- Provided with door closers and door stops to avoid damages by users

- Aluminum profiles shall be minimum 8 cm wide and minimum of 1.8 kg/m (heavy duty)

WON: 1702432

For the Public Toilets/Latrines, provide new homogeneous porcelain stoneware floors. Porcelain stoneware shall have the following characteristics and be coordinated with the sealed concrete floor:

- Thickness not less than 8mm

- Provide ‘Grès’ Porcelain Stoneware. Grès stoneware is a compact, hard, colored and non-porous body

- Include matching wall base board of same model as flooring tile. Floor tiles may not be cut to be used as base board

- Tiles shall be of homogeneous (non-glazed) material: This means that all the material of the tile is made of the same material. If we cut a tile, there would be no difference between different layers of the tile. The word “grès” means that the ceramic body of the tile is extremely vitrified, that is to say compact, hence the exceptional great resistance. The result is a lean clay body, little refractory, fired in a kiln (at 1200-1400 C°) until it reaches a non-porous vitrification and a complete water-proofing.

- Scratch hardness of surface (Mohs) >8 (according to EN101)

- Resistant to impacts: Complies with ISO 10545-5

- Water Absorption: Tested by ISO 10545 - 3 ≤ 0.5%

- Deep abrasion resistance: Tested by ISO 10545 – 6: Max 175 mm3

- Frost…
