Questions and Answers for solicitation N32253-21-Q-0017

1. What is this enclosure being used for? Will it be housing machinery?

Yes, it will house multiple motor controllers, switchboards, transformers, etc. (electrical load house)

2. What will the panels need to be made out of? Galvanized steel referring to the base and not panels?

Wall panels may be made with any suitable material that provides the strength necessary for mounting and is flame resistant.

3. Will the Interior also be galvanized steel?

Interior may be anything provided there are supports strong enough to mount multiple electrical components.

4. Please confirm whether the 6” cable trays on the interior perimeter are going around at the top?

Yes, this is correct

5. Do you prefer the removable panel to be FRP or Steel? Steel

6. Will the door be a locking door?

Yes, would like the ability to lock the door.

7. Is the rooftop AC unit a requirement or would wall units be acceptable?

Rooftop is necessary for the ability to place other components/enclosures against the walls

8. Please provide clarification on the Unistrut/superstruct supports installed on interior walls. What is this referring to?

All of the interior components will need to be mounted to the walls. We want unistruts pre-welded to the side of the walls (not including the side with the door) to make installation easier.

Enclosure, Portable

Attachment (1) General Requirements

-weight of each enclosure <9000 Lbs. (quote estimates -6000 lbs.)

No problem.

-12' x8' design based on drawing submitted

We can cut down a 20’ container to 12’. Do you wish to use the cut end and weld lifting tabs to the roof (least expensive option) or move the corner posts in (more expensive option)to make a container with four corner posts and corner castings for lifting and stacking.

The container will be lifted by a crane and needs to be lifetable without any special equipment.

forkliftable

We’ll fabricate fork pockets.

Craneable without the need of a spreader bar

See above.

-removable panel for connectors alongside with access door

Need more details about the panel. Is it a steel panel. Does it have to pass through holes? Removable how?

The panel should be steel. We will cut out mounting holes as necessary. The panel should be removable so it can be replaced/reconfigured as necessary. Method of installation & ability to lock in place is up to the vendor. The panel would ultimately hold all the connectors shown in the drawing.

Unistrut/superstrut supports installed on interior walls other than the one with the door What size Unistrut, how many? Floor too? Ceiling? Just walls?

Unitstruts only on the 3 walls that don’t have the door & panel. No unistruts are necessary on the roof or floor.

-air conditioning (using RV type with compressor on the roof, about 6000 BTU or better)

We normally install a wall-mounted AC between 10000BTU and 12000BTU Wall mounted AC is not preferred. Anticipate having to place other enclosures against the other 3 walls. Only wall-mountable space would be on the wall with the door and panel but would likely be too cluttered.

All walls to be straight and smooth (not corrugated)

We can install insulated interior walls of either drywall or laminated plywood. OK if exterior walls are corrugated? If not we have to side the unit with T-111.

External walls may remain corrugated. The area of the removable panel must not be corrugated.

6" Cable trays installed along the interior perimeter

What kind of cable tray? Any specs?

The cable tray will be holding Navy 3 conductor power cabling. The largest is 4AWG cable carrying up to 2 of these along with 4 each 7AWG cables. Approximating 5 lbs./ft.

(overestimate).

We can do the pass-throughs

These have tube steel frames with a ¼” steel sheet for the pass-through wall. Will these work for your needs?

Second, if it’s only the pass-through that needs to be flat, can the rest of the interior be corrugated?

I don’t know where to price the cable trays. Any specifications would be helpful.

The pass-through walls would work, provided the panel that secures into them is rigid enough for the connectors and gasket to provide a weatherproof seal.

The pass-through doesn’t have to go to the roof, but it can if it is easier for fabrication. The pass-through should is at least 54” high x 44” wide. The frame will eat into this though and would need to be taken into account. If the pass-through needs to be split in half for strength, I can readjust my connectors but will likely need the panel to be taller.

We would like the interior walls to be flat.
