About this file

This document contains answers to questions from potential offerors regarding solicitation number N32205-20-Q-2999 for portable high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration units. The Military Sealift Command seeks units that can create temporary isolation rooms on ships, with draft directed upward and dimensions allowing transport through doorways. While locking security covers and non-UL certified equipment using UL components were queried, the responses require proposed equipment to meet Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology and Underwriters Laboratories standards for HEPA filter construction, performance, labeling and certification.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

The following are answers to questions received from potential offerors. The answers provide clarification only and

DO NOT constitute an amendment to the solicitation.

1) Is it required that the unit include a locking security cover for the speed controller?

Answer: No.

2) Is the desired orientation of the Fan Filter Unit to be as high as possible, while still maintaining portability?

Desired draft- Up, Down, Side?

Answer: Draft UP. It is ideal that the unit be taller than width or depth. We do require that one side

3) Can we propose non-UL certified equipment that uses UL certified components? Is there any possibility to have IEST and UL requirements from 3.1.1. waived.

Answer: The PWS requires that HEPA filter construction, performance, labeling and certification are to be in accordance with Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) and

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards. Please propose equipment that meet these standards.
