NAME OF CONTRACTOR: _ _______________________
SPECIFICATION ITEM NO.: ____408_________________
PARAGRAPH / SECTION NO:___7.5.2_________________
TITLE: _______AN/WRN-6 Removal____________________________
QUESTION:
The above paragraph states;
7.5.2 Installations:
a. Install one remote GPS monitor, power supply, and NMEA splitter (item
3.1.2) in radio communication space 03-69-0. Specific location will be directed by
SCO and MSC rep. Disconnect existing NGW NMEA input and connect to NMEA splitter input. Connect NMEA splitter outputs to NGW and GPS repeater.
Need more detailed info. GPS Monitor? Do they mean a GPS receiver?
What’s NGW and GPS repeater?
ANSWER:
The GPS monitor / repeater was erroneously used interchangeably is actually a remote display – Please specify the “FURUNO RD-50” Remote Display 8.4 inch color LCD screen.
NGW is the Next Generation Wideband system that provides the ship internet and external phone services. We are only looking to “tap in” to the NMEA serial signal source here and supplying to the new GPS monitor being installed.
The NMEA serial 0183 data splitter should be an Overland UPC 3002-SLS, serial line splitter with 2 separate inputs and 6 outputs. Dual power input with auto switch.
