About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) pre-solicitation file for a Barometric Altimeter Digital Replacement contract. The document reveals two key insights: first, this is a new contract effort where F16s have previously upgraded similar Altitude Acquisition Units (AAUs), with Innovative Solutions and Support noted as a previous incumbent contractor. Second, the government has not yet confirmed a specific procurement quantity, as the final number will depend on which platforms choose to participate and their implementation timelines. The Q&A indicates the current focus is on securing development support for digital barometric altimeters to replace existing analog or legacy systems across various military platforms.

Question & Answer – Barometric Altimeter Digital Replacement

Q: We would like to know if this is a brand-new contract OR if there is (was) an incumbent performing these services?

A: This will be a new effort. However, F16s have previously upgraded their AAUs to something similar that we are looking for, but modifications would need to be made.

Innovative Solutions and Support was the incumbent contractor. No contract number specified.

Q: Can you provide an approximate number of SSBAs that PMA-209 (PMA-265/PMA 299) are interested in acquiring?

A: At this time, we do not have a confirmed quantity for procurement. The final number will depend on which platforms choose to participate in this effort and their respective timelines for implementing the upgrade. Currently, we are focused on securing support for development.
