About this file
This document is a Question and Answer (Q&A) pre-solicitation file for a Barometric Altimeter Digital Replacement contract. The Q&A reveals that this is a new effort to replace analog/mechanical barometric altimeters across various Navy platforms, with Innovative Solutions and Support noted as a previous contractor. The Navy seeks digital barometric altimeters that are compatible with legacy systems like AAU-32, AAU-39, and AAU-52, offering enhanced performance, accuracy, and reliability.
The associated Request for Information (RFI) requires potential vendors to submit detailed capabilities by August 1, 2025, at 3:30 PM EST to Kassidy Cross. Respondents must provide comprehensive information including product specifications, digital interface protocols, environmental specifications, certification compliance, system compatibility, manufacturing capabilities, cost estimates, data rights, and performance history. The RFI emphasizes that this is an information-gathering exercise only, with no commitment to contract award, and responses should be submitted electronically in PDF format to the specified Navy contact.

Question & Answer – Barometric Altimeter Digital Replacement
Q: We would like to know if this is a brand-new contract OR if there is (was) an incumbent performing these services?
A: This will be a new effort. However, F16s have previously upgraded their AAUs to something similar that we are looking for, but modifications would need to be made.
Innovative Solutions and Support was the incumbent contractor. No contract number specified.
