BS-650013.APN7METCAL1-LOW FREQ AC/DC CALTDS
BS-650013.APN7METCAL2-RF/MICROWAVE CALSTDS
The use of NAVAIR METCAL equipment funding is to procure Calibration Standards (CALSTDs) and ancillary equipment for Aviation Fleet Intermediate Calibration Activities, Fleet Training Activities and Aviation Navy Calibration Laboratories (NCLs) to support Aviation Organizational and Intermediate (I) level maintenance assets. All Cal Standards listed for procurement must first go through an approval process. This process includes: initial submission by the fleet; review and prioritization by the Fleet TYCOM’s; laboratory workload justification and standardization review by a NAVAIR METCAL technical review team; overall procurement strategy review to assess overall program objectives, priorities and funding.

The equipment listed above is required for replacement of damaged units or fleet deficits that are either no longer reliable or not economically repairable. There are no other model numbers that could replace the intended because of the systems they support. All calibration activities now utilize the same Calibration Equipment Standards and Standard Instrument Calibration Procedures to support similar workloads and cannot be deviated or substituted. This has minimized the number of calibration procedures used Navy-wide, reduced the training requirements, causing fewer interface problems between equipment, reduced calibration time and improved compatibility between calibration laboratories.
These units are in support of the following:
LOW FREQ AC/DC CALSTDS
RF/MICROWAVE CALSTDS
