The purpose of this item is to describe the requirements to service the ship’s Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) units.

5.0 NOTES

5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of

tier must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTRs including but not limited to GTRs 1 through 7, 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29.

5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of

tier are advised to review other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item. Many of the definitions relating to performance of this work item are found in Work Item 001.

6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None additional

7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED

7.1 Provide the services of an authorized OEM Technical

Representative to perform the UPS Service inspection, cleaning, and testing as identified in section 3.0, using References 2.1.1 through 2.1.4. and Enclosures 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 as guidance.

7.2 Coordinate with ship’s force to have associated

equipment locked and/or tagged out per ship’s lock out/tag out

305 - 3 policy. When the maintenance is complete, coordinate with ship’s force to have associated equipment unlocked and/or tagged in per ship’s lock out/tag out policy.

7.3 Drain and dispose of any liquid in accordance with all

local, state, and federal laws.

7.4 Place UPS unit in “Bypass” mode and ensure power is

secured prior to starting any work.

7.5 Open, inspect, and clean the UPS unit. Verify all loose

dust, dirt, and debris is removed.

7.6 Check electrical connections and tighten any loose

connections, using References 2.1.1 through 2.1.4 as guidance.

7.7 Inspect air intakes, exhaust plates, and the enclosure

interior and clean with a vacuum cleaner.

7.8 Renew all air filters in each unit.

7.9 Take unit out of “Bypass” mode and energize.

7.10 Test all units and place the units on-line after proper

operation is verified, using References 2.1.1 through 2.1.4 as guidance.

7.10.1 Conduct 90-day battery discharge procedure

using Enclosure 2.2.2 as guidance.

7.11 Reports

7.11.1 When inspection, service and testing reveal any

deficiency a condition report is to be submitted to the OMT REP with recommended repairs and parts required. Submit one electronic copy in Portable Document Format (PDF).

7.11.2 Submit a report that includes “as released”

condition of the UPS. Submit one electronic copy in Portable Document Format (PDF).

7.11.3 All reports and checklists are to be completed

and signed by the person who carried out the inspection and maintenance work and countersigned by the Company’s

7.12 Painting/Lagging

7.12.1 Prepare, prime, paint and restore all new, soiled, and disturbed surfaces to match surrounding surfaces.

7.12.2 Renew lagging where damaged or disturbed.

7.13 Manufacturer’s Representative

7.13.1 Provide the services of an OEM authorized field

service representative to accomplish all work and testing on the UPS identified in section 3.0 ensuring compliance with the manufacturer’s standards and performance specifications.

7.13.3 Provide the OMT REP with a signed letter of

qualification from the Original Equipment Manufacturer and certificate of training for the field service representative for the equipment listed in section 3.0 prior to the start of any work.

ENCLOSURE 2.2.2 – 90-Day PM UPS Battery Discharge Test

1. To initiate the discharge test, open the Rectifier breaker on the UPS only. This ensures that even under battery failure conditions, the UPS will continue to power the load without interruption by switching to the static bypass branch.

2. The following alarms should be present on the UPS while the discharge test takes place:

• Rectifier AC Fail and Ø Rotation Error LEDs are illuminated red.

• The Battery LED is illuminated red and the UPS makes an audible beep.

3. Run discharge until LOW BATT alarm triggers you will hear the UPS audible beep get faster as this approaches.

4. Once LOW BATT alarm triggers (Close Rectifier Breaker) this will put the UPS back into normal operating mode and recharge the batteries. No other procedures required to get the UPS in normal operation.

5. Verify the LED mimic diagram on UPS has Reserve, Rectifier, Inverter, Inverter Static Switch, Output LED’s illuminated.

6. Record Date and time when test was started and when the LOW BATT alarm occurred.
