STATEMENT OF WORK

STATEMENT OF WORK

Subject: Replacement of 1500 gallon bulk cryogenic tank

I. Statement of Work:

NAVSEA NUWC Division, Keyport has a requirement for the removal of a 1500 gallon cryogenic storage tank located outside of Building 5945. The tank will be replaced by a similar 3000 gallon tank in the same location. The project will require the contractor to dismantle and dispose of/recycle the empty 1500 gallon tank and install an empty 3000 gallon tank in its place. The new tank must have a one and half inch (1-1/2”) outflow pipe with a removable bayonet style adaptor to one inch vacuum jacketed pipe. Building 5945 is located on the Keyport Annex, Submarine Base Bangor.

The Contractor shall provide labor, materials, and equipment, as required, to accomplish the following work in accordance with the statements herein:

o The 1500 gallon tank currently sits on a cement pad approximately 20ft away from the building. There is a 3000 gallon tank on the same pad approximately 10ft away from the 1500 gallon tank. Both tanks are currently connected to the building’s 1” vacuum jacketed pipe (VJP) distribution system. The connection between the 1500 gallon tank and the VJP system is a bayonet fitting on the end of an 8ft section of VJP with a ball valve on it. The ball valve will be used to cut off the tank from the other parts of the system during removal. The tank will remain empty for a sufficient time such that no liquid nitrogen shall be present in the system during removal. There are six (6) 1” bolts that hold the three feet of the tank on the cement pad. The bolts must be removed or cut level with the surface of the concrete.

o Once the 1500 gallon tank has been removed; a 3000 gallon tank will be installed in its place on the same concrete pad. The 3000 gallon tank will have to fit in the same 14’ x 16’ envelope on this concrete pad and shall not interfere with or endanger the other equipment on the pad.

This tank shall not contain any liquid nitrogen during delivery and installation. This tank shall have a 1-1/2” outflow pipe that will to interface with the same 1” VJC connection used by the previous tank. An adapter with bayonet style connections shall be used to allow for future expansion.

All work must be coordinated through the Engineering Technician (ET), provided at award. A preconstruction meeting will take place two weeks prior to the start of construction. The ET, Customer, Contractor and all required subs will be in attendance at a minimum.
