WORK SPEC 01

YTT-10 Discovery Bay

1. Main Crane – 1800’ 1 and 1/8” 6x36 IWRC Main Wire and 200’ ¾” 6x36 IWRC Auxiliary Wire

2. Knuckle Crane – 150’ ¾” 6x36 IWRC Wire Period of Performance: to be scheduled for the 2024 Calendar Year, at a time when the Government POC will contact the vendor to schedule the site visit. Multiple Option years requested as this will be an ongoing preventative maintenance task.

During specified period of performance vendor will deliver to KB Docks Bangor or Keyport Pier, as designated by the Government Technical Representative, a portable powered line spooler and offload the vessel’s wires. Vendor will provide labor for climbing services to remove wire.

Government will provide crane operator and crane crew. Once wires are offloaded vendor will take wires offsite to scrape exterior of grease, inspect wire rope, and then pressure lube wires.

Pressure lube of wire will be performed using Dyna Guard Blue Grease (No substitutions are authorized). Vendor will provide a verbal condition notification to the Governments representative. Once services are completed, vendor will return wires to KB Docks Bangor or Keyport Pier and provide labor for climbing services to re-install both wires using a portable powered line spooler to install lines under tension. Government will provide crane operator and crane crew.

REQUIREMENT Main Crane Auxiliary and Knuckle Crane wires will be removed and placed onto separate pallets, provided by the vendor. Once services completed wires will be returned on separate wooden spools, provided by the vendor, for installation on the YTT-10’s cranes. Main Crane Main wire will be removed onto a wooden spool and returned on a spool, provided by the vendor. The spools shall be adequate in strength to remove/install the wire under tension.

Labor The vendor is authorized 8 hours to remove wires, 7 business days to service wires per specifications above, and 8 hours to re-install wires.

CHECK POINT

Government representative will inspect and approve crane wire installation before service is accepted as completed.

YTT-11 Discovery Bay

Period of Performance: to be scheduled for the 2024 Calendar Year, at a time when the Government POC will contact the vendor to schedule the site visit. Multiple Option years requested as this will be an ongoing preventative maintenance task.

During specified period of performance vendor will deliver to KB Docks Bangor or Keyport Pier, as designated by the Government Technical Representative, a portable powered line spooler and offload the vessel’s wires. Vendor will provide labor for climbing services to remove wire.

The pressure lube will be performed using Dyna Guard Blue Grease (No substitutions are authorized). Vendor will provide a core condition report for each wire. Once service are completed vendor will return wires to KB Docks Bangor or Keyport Pier for Government personnel to install.

VENDOR QUESTIONS

Question One (1): Can you please provide additional information on which kind of inspection is required after the old grease has been removed?

Answer: 613-1.10.2.1 External Inspection. The external inspection criteria for general usage running rope is as follows:

a. Reduction of nominal rope diameter due to loss of core support or internal or external corrosion or wear of individual outside wires. The diameter shall be measured in a circumscribing circle in six or more places on the rope. For the correct method of measuring diameter see Figure 613–1–5.

b. Number of broken outside wires and degree of distribution or concentration of broken wires

c. Corroded, pitted, or broken wires at end connections

d. Corroded, cracked, bent, worn, or improperly applied end connections

e. Severe kinking, crushing, or distortion of rope structure

f. Evidence of heat damage from any cause
