QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Question:
What spectrum of light were you looking to have the luminous transmittance tested? It can be tested over a wide spectrum. Are you looking for visible only or a wider range?
Answer:
Visible light.
Question:
A similar case exists with the flatness of .002, and even .005. It is almost unavoidable that the flame polishing of material may cause the part to move slightly, as it will always introduce a certain amount of stress to the part, even if great care is taken in the flaming process. It is unlikely that the .002 or .005 flatness is able to be achieved after the flame polishing. Can you tell us if previous parts have been able to meet this requirement?
Answer:
The dimensions on the drawing could be made to apply before flame polishing. The flatness requirements are tight because we are bonding glass to each side of the lens using optically clear pressure sensitive adhesive sheet. We can open the flatness requirements up to be flat within .010 over the entire surface but there can be no discontinuities.
