About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document providing clarification on a furniture and equipment relocation project involving multiple military facilities and tenant organizations.

The project encompasses moving furniture and equipment from Building X-70 to three destination buildings: IE (for Navy Mutual), CEP-87 (for NAVSEA), and M-52 (for NEPMU-2). Key requirements include: disposal of existing furniture in IE spaces (2 offices and 1 classroom) before X-70 furniture arrives; provision of 10-20 boxes or crates to tenants for self-loading personal items; development of a detailed schedule to minimize tenant downtime during work hours; and submission of site approval documentation for any dumpsters brought onsite. Specific technical requirements include disconnecting and re-wiring hard-wired cubicle power in the SURFLANT EMH section; transporting one 518-pound safe from NAVSEA to the second floor of CEP-87 using the building's functional elevator (the only functional elevator among the buildings involved); and moving warehouse equipment from X-70 to M-52, including storage racks, a wheeled stairwell, and a pallet stacker, with racks requiring re-bolting to the floor at the destination. The NEPMU-2 lab section requires moving metal storage racks to CEP-87, with tenant command responsible for relocating equipment on those racks.

Q & A

General:

What furniture needs to be disposed of?

Only the space in IE that Navy Mutual is moving into (2 offices and 1 classroom) will need existing furniture removed before furniture from X-70 can be moved into.

Which buildings have functional elevators?

CEP-87 is the only building with a functional elevator.

Can crates/containers be provided to tenants for self-loading meet the requirement of providing tenants with 10-20 boxes?

Yes. The intent is to have some portion of loading be offered to tenants for any items they don’t want packed up. Expecting this to me minimal items, primarily personal effects/small office trinkets.

Can/should work be done outside of normal working hours to minimize downtime for each tenant where they won’t have assembled furniture to perform their missions?

Work does not need to be completed outside of working hours, and goal is to minimize downtime within reason. Schedule needs to be provided so that any downtime can be identified and relayed to the building tenants.

SURFLANT EMH Section of X-70:

Are the cubicles hard-wired or plugged in using normal plugs in the overhead?

Power to cubicles is hard-wired and needs to be disconnected and re-wired into new space.

Does the patient care table (chair with adjustable angle, like a dental chair) need to be moved from X-70 to IE?

No

NAVSEA Section of X-70:

What are the access methods for movement for the safe? Is there any available information regarding the safes’ weight?

Only 1 of the 2 safes in the NAVSEA section is moving to CEP-87. CEP-87 has a functional elevator that can be used to transport the safe to the second floor. The safe is marked with an approximate weight of 518 pounds.

NEPMU-2 Section of X-70:

What is being moved in the lab/warehouse section?

Warehouse: Storage racks need to be moved from X-70 and into M-52. Wheeled stairwell needs to be moved from X-70 to M-52. Pallet stacker needs to be moved from X-70 to M-52. Lab:

Metal storage racks need to be moved from X-70 and into CEP-87. Equipment on storage racks will be moved by tenant command.

Does the pallet stacker need to be moved to M-52 along with racks?

Yes

Do the racks need to be re-bolted to floor in M-52?

Yes

Navy Mutual Section of X-70:

What is furniture being disposed of?

Only the furniture in their new spaces in IE needs to be cleared prior to having their furniture be relocated from X-70. Existing furniture in classroom/office space of IE needs to be disposed of, then X-70’s furniture can be brought in.

Can a dumpster be brought onsite to aid in furniture disposal?

Yes. Location and times when dumpster will be onsite needs to be submitted for a site approval prior to the dumpster being delivered.
