About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for a federal contract opportunity involving LARS (Lightweight Airborne Radar System) mounting pad installation and related services on a naval vessel.
The Government will furnish six LARS mounting pads (sacrificial equipment with dimensions of 6.75" long x 6" wide x 6.75" tall), eliminating the contractor's fabrication responsibility. The work scope encompasses structural installation and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), with the contractor responsible for preservation work on carbon steel base material; the ship does not perform its own preservation. For NDT testing, previous requirements have utilized indirect longitudinal magnetization NDT methodology. Notably, site visits are not available for this requirement, so contractors must prepare proposals based on available documentation without the opportunity to conduct a pre-submission ship check or facility inspection.
