About this file

This is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document addressing technical and logistical requirements for the installation of trailer-mounted bleachers on a Navy aircraft carrier flight deck.

The Navy has clarified that a 1-ton dually truck can access the installation location, though the bleachers must be craned onto the aft flight deck at Spots 7-9 rather than driven directly into position. Trailer-mounted bleachers are acceptable provided they are assembled before Navy acceptance. The Navy will provide crane support once the delivery date is confirmed. No height, width, length, or weight restrictions apply to equipment being brought onboard. For base and ship access, the Navy will supply forms that contractors must complete and submit to a designated point of contact; contractors are responsible for securing their own crew access approvals. Bleachers may be secured using tie-downs attached to shipboard pad-eyes.
