About this file
This is a Brand Name Justification document for repair parts for a TSV4 Narragansett Allied Systems deck crane (Model TB60-64, Serial Number 1712). The document justifies sole-source procurement from Allied Systems Company as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for $54,564.54 worth of repair parts with required delivery by January 3, 2025.
The required repairs include installing a new LMI system compatible with the existing Cranesmart system, replacing the emergency lowering system's hand pump assembly, replacing a severely corroded swing drive unit, installing a new hydraulic tank heater and tank breather, and repairing damaged bulkhead fittings in the extension boom. The justification emphasizes that using non-OEM parts would compromise safety and certification of the equipment. Currently, the vessel TSV4 Narragansett is non-mission capable due to the crane issues, causing training mission cancellations and rescheduling. The crane's specifications include a 60-foot boom length, 13,800 lb extended capacity, and 82,900 lb retracted capacity.
