SUMMARY OF CHANGES (REVISED)
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
The purpose of this amendment is to 1) answer questions received in response to the solicitation issuance as follows:
1. Questions submitted in response to the solicitation issuance, as well as answers to those questions, are as follows:
Question 1: The MIL-E-16663 – GRAY 26307 is an obsolete paint spec from the early 1970’s. We have searched to find the superseding spec, but are able to find the new spec. Do you have the superseding spec or a different spec that is acceptable?
Answer 1: The spec MIL-E-16663A is still active. It was declared obsolete in 1996 but reinstated in
2002. Continue to abide by the paint spec for Gray 26307.
Question 2: In the previous summary of changes, there is a question related to acceptable materials if machining from barstock. Per the print/drawing, (Note 12) it states that 17-4ph/H1025 per AMS 5643 is acceptable for machining from barstock, however in the summary of changes, the Government response is that 17-4ph/H1000 per AMS 5355 is acceptable. Are both materials acceptable for machining, or is one preferred over the other?
Answer 2: The drawing note 4 states H1000 to achieve the minimum strength properties of RC34, 8%
Elongation, 20% reduction in Area, 150ksi ultimate tensile strength, 130ksi yield. These are minimum requirements. If H1025 meets this, then it is acceptable. The headcap calls for H1100 heat treatment.
2. All other terms remain unchanged.
