QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

1. Please provide drawings or specific dimensions for hydraulic cylinder to be repaired (drawings provided)

2. Please provide drawings or specific dimensions of hydraulic pump to be reused (no drawings available)

3. What is flow rate requirement of the system? (flow rate of current pump is unknown; will estimate nominal speeds for gantry frame travel and actuator for lifting & lowering tank head)

4. What is the operating pressure of the system? (3000 psi)

5. Are there schematics/drawings of the existing system available? (Yes, drawings provided)

6. If not, please identify the size and type of the hydraulic connections so we can verify specs.

7. Is there a schematic available for the desired new system configuration? (none)

8. Are there any environmental requirements for the hydraulic and electrical components? (i.e.: corrosion resistance, NEMA rating, etc.) (none)

9. What is the power available to the new control system? (460 V, 60 A, 3 phase)

10. Are there any Mil. Specs or standards we need to take into consideration? (none)

All questions are due by 10:00 AM EST on 29 May 2019!

STATEMENT OF WORK

Statement of Work Cyclops Gantry Crane Hydraulic

System

1 SCOPE

1.1 This Statement of Work establishes the requirements for replacement of the Cyclops Gantry Crane hydraulic system in the 10ft Diameter Pressure Vessel Facility.

2 BACKGROUND

2.1 The 10ft diameter spherical pressure vessel is critical to facility operations in Bldg. 19, as it provides the

Navy and other maritime industries the capability to test submarines and other submersible structures under deep sea conditions. The vessel is operated by a 100-ton Cyclops Gantry Crane hydraulic system used to lift the top half of the pressure vessel and drive it to another location via a rail network. This facilitates the unobstructed use of the lower portion of the spherical pressure vessel for installing test articles. The hydraulic system has been in place since the 1960’s and many of the components are obsolete. A loud “banging” noise can be heard when operating the lifting cylinder, which may have been damaged from a prior lifting operation. To ensure continuous use of the equipment, a number of repairs and upgrades are required

3 REQUIREMENTS

3.1 The contractor shall remove and dispose of existing components of the hydraulic pressure unit. The following replacement components shall be provided and installed:

i. 15HP electric motor 1.

RPM

2. 460 Volts

3. 60 Amps

4. 3 Phase A/C

ii. 50 Gallon reservoir to allow easy maintenance and service of pump and motor

iii. 10µ in-line pressure filter and 10µ tank mount return filtration

iv. 1 kW in-tank heater with temperature switch, dual level float switches, and switch monitored suction valve.

v. Drive motor rebuild/replacement, with addition of gear type flow divider to ensure equal flow to each gantry drive motors

3.2 The contractor shall refurbish existing wheel motor gearbox
