STATEMENT OF WORK
Statement of Work Cyclops Gantry Crane Hydraulic System
1 SCOPE
1.1 This Statement of Work establishes the requirements for replacement of the Cyclops Gantry Crane hydraulic system in the 10ft Diameter Pressure Vessel Facility.
2 BACKGROUND
2.1 The 10ft diameter spherical pressure vessel is critical to facility operations in Bldg. 19, as it provides the Navy and other maritime industries the capability to test submarines and other submersible structures under deep sea conditions. The vessel is operated by a 100-ton Cyclops Gantry Crane hydraulic system used to lift the top half of the pressure vessel and drive it to another location via a rail network. This facilitates the unobstructed use of the lower portion of the spherical pressure vessel for installing test articles. The hydraulic system has been in place since the 1960’s and many of the components are obsolete. A loud “banging” noise can be heard when operating the lifting cylinder, which may have been damaged from a prior lifting operation. To ensure continuous use of the equipment, a number of repairs and upgrades are required
