QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

N0016424Q0306-0002 Vendor Questions/Requiring Technical Activity Answers

1. Is there a desired size, thickness, or drawing you can provide for how you'd like the information on this QR tag organized?

a. The only physical requirements are that the QR Tags are weather-proof, which means it is made of Stainless Steel, and it is secured to the Crate wall as illustrated in attachment 21SW0007 (sheet 1).

b. Data requirements are also listed in the note section of attachment 21SW0007 (sheet 1).

2. In reading the specifications for this work the term "heat treated" is being used for all wood materials. The "heat treated" wood is specially processed so that the wood is highly rot resistant. This type of wood is significantly more expensive. Please clarify. If all other wood is dimensional 2x4s etc. are to be "heat treated" they will have to undergo special processing. Please clarify.

a. All the lumber used to make these crates are required to be heat treated per ISPM 15 standards. See attachment 21SW0007, sheet 1 notes

b. The main purpose is to mitigate pest propagation.

c. The lumber can be heat treated before or after assembly

d. Failure to heat treat lumber will result in a rejection of delivery order inside navy shipyard grounds.

3. First listed in the questions you responded to, it stated that the crates can be stacked 2 high, is that a requirement?

Can we stack more than 2- preferably 3 high to limit truckloads?
