STATEMENT OF WORK

Statement of Work for Automated Supply Retrieval System (ASRS)

1.0 Scope

Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC-CR) Crane, located in central Indiana, requires the replacement of three (3) aging Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) Mini-Load Storage and Retrieval Machines (SRMs) with minimum ASRS downtime and maximum inventory availability during the replacement process. The Contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, supplies, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, quality control, and other items and non-personal services necessary to perform the ASRS system replacement as defined in this SOW.

1.1 Background

Naval Sea Logistics Center (NSLC) at Crane, Indiana is currently utilizing an Automated Supply Retrieval System (ASRS) at Building 41 that was initially installed in 1992. There have been repairs since initial installation; however, due to the age and condition of the system, as well as repair parts now being obsolete, it has been deemed necessary for a full system upgrade to be executed with new, unused equipment and software.

1.2 Existing System Description

NSWC-CR uses its ASRS-equipped warehouse with the following overall configuration to efficiently store and retrieve a wide variety of military components. Total square footage of the room where the ASRS is located is approximately 5,973 SF. The dimensions of the room are 136 feet 3 inches long, 43 feet 10 inches wide, and a height of 26 feet 6 inches.

General Overview: The Litton Mini-load fixed-aisle SRMs are a floor running, rail supported, dual mast unit. The SRMs are top rail guided with a lift carriage and an extractor mechanism designed to store or retrieve pans from either side of the aisle.

The racks consist of 6,960 total bins with a capacity of 500 pounds. The racks contain 6 rows of bins that are 29 bins high and 40 bins deep. Bins sizes range from 24-inches wide by 48-inches long with a depth of 4 inches (240 bins), 9 inches (840 bins), and 18 inches (80 bins). Some bins have additional storage space within the bin to create a total of 17,741 storage locations.

SRMs interface with conveyors that deliver bins to three (3) picking stations. Each picking station has a bin collector/distributor and each picking station is allowed to have only one bin being picked or deposited into at any one time. SRMs operate in aisles that are approximately 64-inches wide, 137-inches long, and 27 inches high. There are three aisles that are each served by a separate Litton Mini-Load Storage Retrieval Machines (SRM).

Crane Mainframe: The Crane Mainframe is a rectangular weldment which supports all crane assemblies. The mainframe consists of two vertical masts, upper truck and lower truck integrally welded for stability in all directions. The crane rests on drive and idler wheel assemblies guided by rail guide roller bearings. Total bins are 6,960 EA: 29 Bins high, 40 bins deep and 6 rows of bins. Each storage rack is 26 feet 6 inches tall and 93 feet 4 inches long. Each of the storage racks are 4 feet 1 inch wide with 5 feet 4 inches of aisle space in between each rack. There are three aisles. Total width of storage area is approximately 4 feet 1 inch wide.

Crane Mast: The crane mast consist of two square tubes welded to the lower and upper trucks for stability and weight distribution. The front mast provides lift carriage guiding, lift carriage emergency braking and vertical (Y-axis) code plate reader mounting. The rear mast supports the main electrical control cabinet and provides internal wire ways for power and control, as well as provides stability for the lift carriage. All vertical cams that operate the lift carriage slowdown, maximum travel limit, pickup and delivery (P&D) and location reflector are mounted on the rear mast.

Upper Truck Assembly: The upper truck assembly is the top structural member in the mainframe weldment. The upper truck assembly houses the top guide rollers, Y-axis idler top bearing support kit, communication trolley, and an eye bolt. The bolt is used for crane plumb.

Lower Truck Assembly: The lower truck assembly is the bottom structural member in the mainframe weldment which houses the horizontal (X) drive and idler wheel assemblies, X-axis code plate reader, X-axis travel slowdown switches, P&D lockout switches, front and rear aisle obstruction bumper switches, power trolley assembly, lift carriage mechanical stop bumpers, drive and idler wheel guide rollers, shock absorber assembly, and X-axis maximum travel switch.
