About this file

This amendment modifies a solicitation for the Machine MAC RFP issued by the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command. The amendment extends the solicitation response date from October 30, 2023 to November 13, 2023. It also provides responses to six questions from potential offerors. The responses clarify that fiberglass cloth and core material substitutions may be proposed, confirm the scale of dimensions in the solid model, and specify that proposals for the machining and composite efforts require different product samples and can be submitted for either or both requirement types. Additive manufacturing is out of scope for this contract.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION A - SOLICITATION/CONTRACT FORM

The required response date/time has changed from 30-Oct-2023 02:00 PM to 13-Nov-2023 02:00 PM.

SECTION B - SUPPLIES OR SERVICES AND PRICES

The following have been modified:

Q & A RESPONSES

Q & A Responses

1. Tab material is listed for each layer at 0 DEG, 45 DEG, 90 DEG, etc. – is deviation from this specification allowed? - No, would like to keep orientation consistent

2. Manufacturer is proposing use of 7781 Fiberglass cloth – is this acceptable? - We will accept the substitution in this material

3. What is the Core material specification? – Core material was not specified, as we wanted to let the contractors use whatever core material they might have on hand to keep cost down.

4. is the scale correct at ½ from the solid model to actual? This would put the dimension at about 7”. Yes, that is correct.

5. One question I do have is out of the three items, I just need to complete one but quote all three correct? There are two requirement types in our solicitation. One for machining efforts (CLINs 0001-0006) and one for composite type work (CLINS 0007-0012). You can propose on either or both. For the machining effort you must submit two product samples, consisting of a machined part and a manufactured part. For the composite effort you must submit one product sample. This is outlined in Section L proposal requirements.

6. What 3D Additive manufacturing is anticipated within the Machine MAC requirement?

We will not be doing any additive manufacturing under this contract.
