About this file
This is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document addressing clarifications to a Request for Information (RFI) for a naval aviation development program.
The RFI seeks responses regarding the development of a Small Smart Target (SST) and associated demonstration flight events. Key technical parameters clarified include: no maximum performance speed requirement, no minimum ground range requirement, and no minimum powered flight time requirement. The ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) cost and schedule estimate should cover the period from a hypothetical contract award in October-December 2027 through the first demonstration flight event, and should document key long-lead items necessary to achieve up to 50 flight events annually. Responses are limited to 20 pages, with cover pages, table of contents, and acronym lists inclusive of this limit; text within graphics is not subject to font restrictions. Corporate information such as address and CAGE code may be provided on a cover page that counts against the 20-page limit. All submissions must be marked with Distribution Statement D per DoDI 5230.24; Distribution Statement F is not permitted. For CUI categories, only Distribution B and Distribution E are allowed when using General Proprietary Business Information (PROPIN). Responses must be submitted via encrypted email by Noon ET on 29 May 2026, with DoD SAFE links available upon request. The RFI should describe end-to-end solutions including launch systems and discuss successful integration experience with existing Navy launcher interfaces.
