About this file
This document is a Sole Source Justification for a Simplified Acquisition under FAR Part 13.501(a)(1)(ii). The Office of Acquisition Management proposes to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Knoll Inc. for $12,191.37 to provide replacement cushions for 4 historic Barcelona chairs and a replacement glass top for 1 historic Barcelona coffee table at the U.S. Embassy in Montevideo. The requirement is to preserve the historic nature of the chancery lobby by reusing the existing furniture frames. The justification cites the authority under 41 U.S.C. 1901 or 41 U.S.C. 1903 for other than full and open competition, as Knoll is the only manufacturer able to provide the exact matching components and finishes. The Contracting Officer determined the price is fair and reasonable based on BPA pricing, and no market research was conducted since no other vendor can fulfill this need.

FAR Part 13.501(a)(1)(ii)
