About this file

This document is a service maintenance request from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Mineral Resources Management's Coal Regulatory program, seeking maintenance services for 28 seismograph units used to monitor and assess geological structures and geodynamic risks of coal mines. The maintenance services required include annual and post-repair calibration to meet International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) Performance Specifications, comprehensive repairs of electronic components and hardware, minor accidental damage repairs, preventive maintenance, programming and firmware upgrades, and a normal turnaround time of 14 business days. The specific seismographs are identified by serial numbers ranging from 7170 to 11015.

The maintenance services will cover repairs not related to accidental damage, including electronic parts, circuit boards, hardware, and weather-resistant seals, with provisions for repairing up to three seismographs with accidental damage during the maintenance period. The service also includes battery and windscreen checks, parts replacement to prevent false triggering, and return shipping to the ODNR regional office in New Philadelphia, Ohio. No specific pricing, funding sources, or contract term details are provided in the document, which appears to be a preliminary service requirements outline for potential service providers.

Text version

The ODNR-Division of Mineral Resources Mgmt's Coal Regulatory program is in need of maintenance service for our current seismograph units. Currently, there are 28 units in need of repair and calibration. These seismographs are used to monitor and assess geological structures and geodynamic risks of coal mines within the state.

The serial numbers of the 28 seismographs to be covered by the above service are: 7170, 7171, 7285, 7286, 7458, 7459, 7654, 7655, 7843, 7844, 8021, 8022, 8223, 8224, 10172, 10173, 10579, 10580, 10581, 10582, 10839, 10840, 10841, 10842, 11012, 11013, 11014, and 11015.

Services should include the following:

1. Annual and post-repair shake-table and acoustic calibration and certification to meet the current International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) Performance Specifications for Blasting Seismographs, including tabular documentation of input/output data (“as-found,” final, and phase response) across a range of frequencies, as described in Appendix 1 of said ISEE specifications;

1. All repairs not related to accidental damage; such repairs shall include, but not be limited to, repairing or replacing electronic parts, circuit boards, hardware, and weather-resistant seals or sealants in the geophone, microphone and seismograph unit;

1. Minor repairs due to accidental damage (e.g., to fix a sliced geophone or microphone cable, or replace a water-damaged microphone element), for not more than three seismographs during the maintenance period;

1. Preventive maintenance services to include, at a minimum, checking/replacing the internal batteries, battery cables/clamps and windscreens, and checking/replacing any parts that might cause problems (such as false triggering);

1. Programming and firmware upgrades when available;

1. Normal turn-around time of 14 business days (or less) from the date a seismograph is received at your primary service location; and

1. Return shipping to our regional office in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
