Mount Wachusett Community College

Bid Specifications For

Injection Molding and Extrusion Training and Machine Simulation

About the College

Mount Wachusett Community College is an accredited, public two-year institution serving 29 cities and towns in North Central Massachusetts. The 269-acre main campus is located in Gardner, Massachusetts; satellite sites are located in Leominster, Fitchburg, and Devens. The College employs over 340 full time and over 750 part time faculty and staff. The College offers over 45 associate degree and certificate programs, as well as adult basic education/GED programs, education and training for business and industry and noncredit community service programs.

Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) is the lead applicant of a four community college consortium consisting of MWCC (MA), Bossier Parish Community College (LA), North Central State College (OH), and Southwest Tennessee Community College (TN) for the US Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training opportunity (TAACCCT III).

Invitation to Bid Information

Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) is requesting bids for a comprehensive and fully customizable long-term interactive training solution for both injection molding and extrusion. The training solution should be focused on teaching injection molding and extrusion that incorporates a science-based perspective.

Comprehensive computer-based injection molding machine simulation and lab lessons are vital to the training solution. The simulation must contain associated lab lessons that demonstrate the technical content of the interactive training programs so as to enable the student to gain an understanding of these critical technical concepts. The injection molding simulation must be computer-based due to the fact that a student can run 10 (ten) molding cycle simulations on a computer in the same amount of time that it would take to run one (1) cycle on a live molding machine. As a result, the computer-based simulation enables the student to receive ten

(10) times the training in a given period resulting in maximum training efficiency.

The training must be customizable so that MWCC can easily and freely add its own technical information and details into any interactive training lesson. Customization must include the ability for MWCC to add: 1) full-motion video, 2) pictures, 3) test questions and 4) text / notes at no additional fee.

It is required that the training solution include five (5) years of free upgrades and technical support going forward.

The upgrades must cover both the technical training content as well as the interactive operating system software.

A complete skill-based curriculum associated with the training shall be included and available in printed form.

Specific training materials must be provided for the administrator, instructor and students with no limitation on the number of copies MWCC can make. Curriculum must address the basic specifications listed below but is not required to be presented in format or sequence shown. The number of hours anticipated to cover topics shall be included. Pricing must include costs of combined curriculum as well as individual pricing for Injection Molding and Extrusion content.
