About this file

This document is a solicitation for roadside mowing services for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) University Region, which covers Monroe County. The contract is for a 3-year term with two 1-year extension options. The services include mowing 757.5 acres along Interstate 75, Interstate 275, US-23, M-50, M-125, I-75 Connector, US-24, US-24 Connector, US-223, and Old US-223 in Monroe County. The contractor will also be responsible for cable guardrail trimming and additional width mowing, if requested by the Program Manager. The estimated contract start date is May 16, 2022, and the end date is May 15, 2025. Bidders must provide a price per cycle for the required mowing services, and the total annual and 3-year costs. The State is not obligated to purchase the full estimated quantities, and the exact number and frequency of services needed will be determined by the weather and the Program Manager. The contractor is responsible for any damage caused while performing the services and must make necessary repairs.

The equipment and supplies to be used must be reliable commercial-grade mowers, string trimmers, and blowers, and will be reviewed prior to award. Equipment failure will not be an acceptable reason for deviating from the contract schedule. The roadside mowing services are also required for Livingston County in addition to Monroe County.
