About this file

This is a bid specifications document issued by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for a native seed procurement project near Pella, Iowa. The project requires three distinct pre-mixed native seed formulations delivered in 30 to 50-pound bags: 2,278.50 pounds of Pure Live Seed (PLS) for Native Grasses Mix across 150 acres, 58.8 pounds of PLS for Native Wetland Plants Mix across 6 acres, and 1,501.50 pounds of PLS for Native Legume & Forb Mix across 150 acres. Each seed mix contains specific species with defined PLS per-acre requirements, ranging from warm-season and cool-season grasses to forbs, legumes, and sedges tailored to their respective applications. The Native Grasses and Native Wetland mixes must be delivered by November 1, 2026, while the Native Legume & Forb mix must be delivered by December 1, 2026, to the Iowa DNR Red Rock Wildlife Unit Office at 656 Carpenter Street, Monroe, Iowa. Delivery coordination must be arranged through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship to ensure personnel availability, and bidders should note that the delivery site has no loading dock but does have a skid steer available for unloading assistance.

The procurement specifies that no overages or underages may be shipped or charged to the department, and the state reserves the right to split the request for quotes among multiple vendors. Delivery terms are FOB Destination, Freight Prepaid, with the state allowing 60 days for payment of invoices, though bidders may offer discounts for payment within 15 or 30 days. Bidders must provide proof of qualification to supply native seed meeting the detailed specifications and complete required terminations and debarment certifications. No contract value is stated in the specifications, and no set-asides or incumbent vendors are identified, making this procurement open to all qualified providers capable of producing and delivering the specified native seed mixes.
