About this file

This is a Minimum Requirements Document for a Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) repair and refurbishment contract. The 711th Human Performance Wing/RHB requires the repair and refurbishment of one SA-62 Helmet Mounted Display by Vision Products to support high-fidelity research flight simulations. The SA-62 is a high-resolution, wide-field-of-view optical see-through monocular display that overlays critical flight symbology and full-color video imagery over the pilot's field of view while maintaining visibility of the simulator cockpit environment.

The primary scope of work requires the removal and replacement of the two micro-displays with newer OLED micro-displays, followed by full calibration and testing to restore the device to original factory specifications. The refurbished HMD must be restored to all original factory performance specifications and mechanical dimensions, and the contractor must ensure that the repaired unit retains all original Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) salient characteristics. Upon completion, the device must be capable of enabling critical, uninterrupted data collection during research flight simulations. The document was dated 14 July 2026.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS DOCUMENT

Title: Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) Repair/Refurbish

Document Date: 14 July 2026

Background: The SA-62 by Vision Products is a high-resolution, wide-field-of-view optical see-through monocular Helmet-Mounted Display (HMD) utilized to support high-fidelity research flight simulations.

The system overlays critical flight symbology and full-color video imagery over the pilot's field of view while maintaining an unobstructed view of the surrounding simulator cockpit environment, making its repair/refurbishment critical to sustaining ongoing mission-essential simulation schedules.

Scope: 711th HPW/RHB requires one (1) SA-62 Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) to be repaired/refurbished to normal working conditions to allow for data collection from research simulations.

The scope of this effort specifically requires the removal and replacement of the two micro-displays with newer OLED micro-displays. Upon completion of repairs, the HMD must be fully calibrated and tested to restore the device to original factory specifications, enabling critical, uninterrupted data collection during research flight simulations.

Requirements/Salient Characteristics:

The refurbished SA-62 Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) must be restored to all original factory performance specifications and mechanical dimensions. The contractor shall ensure that the repaired unit retains all original Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) salient characteristics.
